De beroemde leden van Grammy award winnaar en rock 'n' roll hall of fame rekruut Metallica, zijn de officiΓ«le beschermheren van de Record Store Days op April 16, 2016.
"The Independent Record Stores are part of Metallica's DNA (...) We couldn't be more proud to be the patrons for the Record Store Day...", zei drummer Lars Ulrich. In het kader van de Record Store Days van dit jaar, brengt de band op 16 april twee exclusieve deluxe box sets uit van de albums "Kill βEm All" en "Ride The Lightning". Elke deluxe boxset bevat selecties aan origineel materiaal uit de collectie van de band. Dat houdt onder andere in dat er veel onbekend en onuitgebracht materiaal tussen zit, zoals records en boeken met zeldzame foto's en notities van de band.
De genummerde deluxe boxsets bevatten live shows, interviews, outtakes en vooral voorheen onuitgebrachte publicaties.
De deluxe set van het album "Kill 'Em All" bevat 4 vinyls (geremasterd album, "Live At Espace Balard" 2-LP en de "Jump In The Fire" picture disc met 3 tracks), 5 CD's (interviews/radio ID's, remixes/bootleg tracks/whip flash remix EP, live show "Live At JBees Rock III", live show "Live At The Keystone") , 1 DVD (live show "Live At The Metro In Chicago") en 1 boek (72 pagina's met voorheen onuitgebracht fotomateriaal en notities). Verder bevat deze deluxe boxset een patch.
